How to Measure an Eyewear Program
Measure an eyewear program with a small set of operating signals: sell-through, reorder frequency, inventory aging, functional in-stock, gross-profit contribution, and performance by location.
Use an operating framework, not a guess
A measurement system should help a buyer make decisions, not create reporting for its own sake. The goal is to know whether the category deserves its space and what should change next.
What should a retailer evaluate?
Sell-Through
Track what moved over a defined period and compare styles, powers, and locations without overreacting to very small samples.
Reorder Frequency
Frequent replenishment can be a strong health signal because it shows inventory is moving through the fixture.
Inventory Aging
Identify product that repeatedly sits while protecting necessary reader-power breadth from being mistaken for dead inventory.
Space Productivity
Evaluate the gross-profit contribution of the fixture relative to the floor or counter space it consumes.
Buyer checklist
- What sold in the last 30, 60, and 90 days?
- Which reader powers are repeatedly missing?
- Which styles have not moved?
- How often is the store reordering?
- What gross-profit dollars did the fixture contribute?
- What specific change will be tested next?
