Every reader reorder should improve the power mix rather than recreate the opening assortment. Repeated sales and stockouts show where the original allocation was too shallow; aging inventory shows where it may have been too deep.
Treat the opening mix as a hypothesis
The supplier or buyer needs a reasonable starting allocation, but the store's own demand becomes the better signal once enough sales occur.
Use reorder data by power
- deepen powers that repeatedly sell out
- maintain useful breadth in slower powers
- reduce duplicate depth where inventory ages
- separate power demand from style demand
Do not chase one unusual week
Use several service cycles before making large changes unless the stockout pattern is obvious. A one-time bulk purchase can temporarily distort the result.
Build a store-specific allocation
Over time, each location should develop a power mix that reflects its own customer base rather than staying locked to the original template.
Over-the-counter readers are not a substitute for professional eye care or prescribed lenses.
