The best reader location in an independent pharmacy is a visible front-end position near a relevant customer path, with enough room to stop, find a power, and use a mirror without blocking prescription pickup or checkout.
Strong candidate zones
- near health, wellness, or personal-care categories
- along the path between pharmacy service and the front end
- near customer service when browsing room is available
Avoid
- inside the prescription queue
- behind the counter or where customers must ask for access
- a narrow aisle with no mirror view
- a remote corner unrelated to the customer mission
Score the location
Evaluate sightline, stopping room, lighting, mirror access, power-label visibility, and refill access. The busiest point is not automatically best if customers feel rushed.
Test before deciding
Use the same assortment in two realistic locations for defined periods. Compare customer stops, power stockouts, sales, queue interference, and staff reset time.
