Supporting Drivers and Travelers Far From Home: An Eyewear Playbook for Travel Centers and Truck Stops

This travel-center playbook tests eyewear as an around-the-clock road-use category across changing dayparts, weather, and travel periods.

Before launch

  • choose a road-essentials or personal-care zone outside queues
  • set reader powers, wearable sunglasses, and backstock
  • define daypart checks and reorder ownership
  • record the launch traffic period

Days 1 to 30: establish daypart demand

Track readers and sunglasses separately, power stockouts, customer requests, display disorder, and sales by daypart where possible.

Days 31 to 60: correct road-use gaps

Increase proven powers, replace weak sunglass duplication, improve placement, and plan temporary depth for known travel or weather periods.

Days 61 to 90: define the operating core

  • retain styles and powers that reorder
  • separate holiday inventory from the year-round mix
  • set service frequency by actual display condition
  • remove aging duplication

Operating rule

Fast-trip customers will not wait for staff to repair a confusing display. Organization is part of availability.
