Independent retailers can mix readers and sunglasses on one display when the combined category remains clear, complete, and easy to measure. The fixture should not reduce power breadth or style choice merely to show both product types.
When a combined display works
- The store has one logical eyewear location.
- Readers and sunglasses are visibly zoned.
- Common reader powers remain available.
- Sunglasses provide meaningful differences in style and fit.
- One service routine can maintain the full fixture.
When to separate the categories
Separate them when each category has enough demand to support its own display, when seasonal sunglasses need a different location, or when a mixed fixture becomes too dense. A small assortment of everything can be less useful than one complete category.
Set the ratio from the store's customer
Use local requests, climate, store mission, category sales, stockouts, and reorders. Do not copy another retailer's ratio without confirming the use case.
Track each category separately
- reader sales and stockouts by power
- sunglass sales by style family
- customer interaction and requests
- reorders and inventory age
- space productivity and labor
