Convenience stores can mix readers and sunglasses on one display when the fixture is large enough to keep the categories clear and preserve common reader powers. A tiny mixed display that offers only a few powers and a few sunglasses is usually too thin to test either category.
When a combined display works
- One compact fixture supports fast self-service.
- Reader powers and sunglass styles are clearly zoned.
- Labels are large and consistent.
- The rack sits outside the checkout queue.
- Staff can reset and refill it in minutes.
When to separate the categories
Use separate displays when seasonal sunglasses need a temporary front location, when reader powers repeatedly stock out, or when the combined rack becomes confusing. The smallest fixture should still represent the intended category credibly.
Set the ratio from local movement
A balanced or reader-heavy starting mix may work in many locations, while travel and warm-weather stores may need more sunglasses. Use weekly sales, dayparts, stockouts, and reorders to change the split.
Track each category separately
- weekly reader sales by power
- sunglass sales by style
- category stockouts
- reorder speed
- reset time
