Plan eyewear reorders by estimating what the store is likely to sell before the next replenishment can arrive, then subtract usable on-hand inventory and add a buffer for predictable peaks.
Use the basic logic
Expected demand during lead time + safety buffer - usable on-hand = reorder need. The inputs should be measured by reader power or proven sunglass style when those positions sell at different rates.
What counts as usable on-hand
Count inventory that is actually available to refill the selling position. Damaged product, misplaced stock, and inventory that cannot be located should not be treated as reliable coverage.
Use a larger buffer only when there is a reason
- known holiday or tourism peak
- promotion or event
- weather-driven demand
- longer-than-normal supplier lead time
- repeated stockouts of a core power or style
Avoid equal reorders
Do not refill every position with the same quantity. Reorder depth should follow actual movement. This is especially important with readers, where powers can sell at very different rates.
