Casinos and gaming resorts should size eyewear backstock from normal sales velocity, supplier lead time, event and occupancy peaks, and the positions most likely to become unavailable. High guest traffic does not mean every style needs deep reserve inventory.
Build backstock from actual demand
Readers and sunglasses may move differently across retail locations and dayparts. Use store-level history to identify which reader powers and sunglass styles need protection.
How to size the refill layer
- cover expected sales during supplier lead time
- add temporary depth before major events, occupancy peaks, or resort seasons
- protect core reader powers
- deepen proven sun styles tied to pool, golf, or destination demand
Do not confuse peak inventory with permanent inventory
A convention or holiday weekend may justify more backstock for a specific period. Reduce the buffer after the peak rather than making the event quantity the new normal.
Keep inventory close to the selling location
Large properties create a special risk: backstock can exist somewhere on property but still be unavailable to the store. Label storage by location and make refill ownership explicit.
Backstock checklist
- What is normal weekly demand?
- What events are coming?
- Which powers and styles stock out?
- How long is supplier lead time?
- Who owns the refill at each retail point?
