Campus stores should use countertop displays for narrow or seasonal tests and floor displays when the category needs enough breadth to serve students, staff, families, and visitors across the academic year.
Countertop works when
- the program is being tested during one campus period
- general-merchandise space is limited
- the assortment is intentionally small
- the location is secondary
Floor works when
- the store has recurring demand across multiple customer groups
- reader powers and sunglass styles both need room
- the fixture can remain in place year-round
- staff can replenish around major campus peaks
Use the academic calendar
A store may need more capacity around orientation or graduation without committing to the same inventory depth throughout the year.
